Rail Principal Engineer Rolling Stock - Sierra Leone

We are looking for a Rail Principal Engineer Rolling Stock to be part of the Project Owner’s team. He or she will represent the client, whilst overseeing the EPC contract/ contractor for the provision of standard rail gauge heavy haulage freight rolling stock for the new ballasted 200km long track in West Africa starting in 2012.
He or she must be familiar with design and performance of all the rolling stock required for the railway. He or she must be familiar with administrating the FIDIC contract for monitoring of all the aspects of rolling stock included in the Contract. He or she will be asked to review and advise on the EPC Contractor’s choice of Rolling Stock. For example: He or she must be able to advice on the purchase, performance including suitability, use and maintenance of heavy ore haulage rolling stock. He or she should have knowledge and experience of all aspects of the rolling stock Diesel Heavy Freight Locomotives, heavy ore carrying wagons, associated maintenance equipment and vehicles, track laying vehicles (including tampers and ballast shapers) and railcars etc.

He or she must be familiar with Rolling Stock Design, Standards, Regulations, ‘Best Practice’, Performance and Maintenance as applicable to the provision of rolling stock for the new 200km standard rail gauge heavy ore haulage freight ballasted track railway.

The role of Rail Principal Engineer Rolling Stock will also involve the following duties, such as:-
Undertaking Rolling Stock Design Checks and determining the suitability of the Contractors proposals;
Undertaking Rolling Stock Monitoring, Inspections, Surveillance, Quality Control and Audits on the Contractor, his sub-contractors and suppliers;
Reviewing the Contractor’s (and in some cases providing) Procedures, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Working & Permissions to use(including permission to move rail vehicles) and the use of rolling stock as well as providing Hazard & Risk Assessments;
The Rail Principal Engineer Rolling Stock should be specialist in heavy freight rolling stock engineering and maintenance.

Experience of working overseas will be an advantage.
Qualifications and experience of Rolling Stock must be demonstrated to determine his or hers suitability for this key role to provide safe and the most efficient transportation by rail of the Iron Ore at all times throughout the Mining Operations of this project

Rate: US$ 500- 650 per day Gross.
Rotation: 8 weeks on + 3 weeks holiday.
Vacation: Economy class return flight to/from point of embarkation.
Accommodation Container style en-suite accommodation.
Food: 3 meals per day free of charge.
Laundry: Free of charge, 24 hour turn-around
