The BSc Architectural Technology and HND Architectural Technology courses are based in the School of The Arts, and they contribute to a diverse portfolio of twenty undergraduate awards covering the broad areas of Art, Design, Media, English, Cultural Studies and Performance.
The Architectural Technology courses recruit nationally and internationally, and have an excellent record of graduate employability through strong links with potential employers. The teaching team comprises full time academics and a number of part time staff who also work within the industry through their own architectural practice, providing a professionally informed learning experience for students.
The courses also enjoy excellent feedback from external examiners and through other contacts that support the course in various ways, including the University’s new Centre for the Collaborative Built Environment which will lead on a number of high profile regional projects.
The School of The Arts has established a new post of Subject Leader, at Principal Lecturer grade, for Architectural Technology that will bring new vision to inform development and direction to these established courses to ensure they remain relevant in content and delivery. The School will look to the post holder for recommendations in developing additional courses, up to and including post graduate levels, to increase the potential of the architecture portfolio. It will also be important to increase the visibility of the subject to ensure it becomes more competitive in the marketplace and its USP may emerge through connections with other areas in the School or University, as well as externally.
