They sell to stockists nationwide, and have strong forged relationships with major national merchants as well as smaller stockist businesses and independent shops. Over 40 years old this is a business that is at the forefront of their industry and carries a name that is synonymous with quality, efficiency and longevity.
They work on a 97% stock availability ratio with nearly 3,000 products under their brand stocked in their southern premises where they perform their own testing on every product to European certification and CE standards, before releasing to the market.
They also have a production facility in Derbyshire which is currently an area they are looking to expand. For this reason they are actively seeking an Engineering Manager for the Derbyshire business to open up a testing facility on the premises and almost immediately grow and develop a team of testing and service engineers to enhance their position on the marketplace.
Role:
- Immediately heading up and growing a team of engineers for a new testing facility out of the Derbyshire premises
- Man management and recruitment of these product and testing engineers
- Hands on role involving risk assessment of products and keeping abreast of the latest CE standards
- Working closely with buying teams, marketing and quality control divisions
- Located in the Derbyshire office although one day a week would involve visiting the southern office and another day at their Nottingham service facility
- Ensuring team of engineers are meeting deadlines and assessing everything to the latest standards
- Regular meetings with the Managers/Directors of each division to ensure the whole company is running in tandem
- This role will grow into also overseeing the engineering function of their southern facility also
Person:
- Must have an electrical/mechanical degree
- Must have a broad range of experience on finished products in electrical power tools & related equipment
- Most likely going to be currently working for a finished product manufacturer
- Must have a good knowledge of CE standards
- Man management experience needed
- Ambition to grow within the business and gain even more responsibility
- Live with commutable distance to Alfreton in Derbyshire
- Understanding and coming from a background of electrical product testing with a regulatory overview
- Product background not likely going to be from an industrial or commercial product background but from products that are sold into the trade
