Our client have a 6 month requirement for a Planning Officer to act as the main point of contact with designated local planning authorities and developers in relation to all planning applications. Your role will be to engage with all internal planning consultees, to manage the responses within the agreed timescales
Plan and co-ordinate work with Area teams to provide relevant, scientifically sound, integrated and timely advice to local authority planners in drafting their Local Development Framework/Plans & associated Sustainability Appraisals so that the clients advice is highly influential and delivers planning policies which deliver their environmental objectives.

Assist the Technical Specialist in the provision of advice to the Regional Strategy to ensure that the Area's planning requirements are adequately covered.

Plan and co-ordinate work with Area teams to provide relevant, scientifically sound, integrated and timely advice (with the support of the Technical Specialist) on technically complex, high-risk development proposals to local authority planners and developers.

Coordinate on technically complex, high-risk statutory planning inquiries and appeals.

Provide a supporting/mentoring role to Planning Liaison Assistant team members in relation to less complex planning applications, appeals & enquiries.

Develop and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers to understand their activities and promote and enhance goals and reputation. This will include Local Planning Authorities, developers, consultants/agents, the Head Office Planning & Environmental Assessment team, Regional Strategic Unit contacts, other Area Planning Liaison teams and consultees from other functions.
