Part Time Between 9.125 - 18.25 hours per week (negotiable), (25% - 50% FTE)
Salary: (inclusive of London allowance)
£40,216 - £47,441 per annum (pro rata)

UCL is one of the leading research and teaching intensive multi-faculty universities in the world, and is the only UK Institution to have a multidisciplinary faculty devoted to the Built Environment. The Faculty is made up of eight schools, including the world-renowned Bartlett School of Architecture. Located in the centre of the capital and at the heart of the world's largest cluster of innovative architecture and engineering practices, the School attracts staff, students, and international visitors of the highest calibre. The Bartlett School of Architecture is also a world leading architectural research institution, with many staff in receipt of international awards and public recognition for excellence. With the aim of reinforcing the School’s operations in the design of building structures, we are seeking an excellent candidate to lead the School's teaching and research trajectory in this area. The post holder will be required to teach, conduct research and foster the School’s expertise in structural design. The central purpose of this role is to lead an innovative and distinct academic agenda in this field within a global and national context. The post holder will work closely with colleagues across the School to introduce, support and develop student and staff research in the field of structural design and to facilitate their need for associated understanding, knowledge and communication. This post is to commence on 1 November 2013 and is available to candidates with related expertise, an excellent research record and teaching experience.
The successful post holder will have a strong track record in innovative design of structures and physically materialised projects. He/she will have a track record of a creative approach towards structures for architectural students and researchers. The post holder will have recent experience in conducting research in an architecture/structural related discipline and recent experience of successful collaboration with innovative and experimental designers. He/she will also have experience of working in industry and practice in the design and fabrication of innovative structures. A postgraduate degree in Architecture or Engineering and knowledge of the theoretical and practical issues involved in the field of structural design is essential.
