Job Purpose
·Overall management of the Consultants

·Liaise between the Client the Consultants and the project staff for design matters.

·Liaise with the Project Manager for the development of design packages and procurement strategies

·Overall responsibility for Design Management of Architecture Structural design and MEP design.

·Ensure procurement and construction information complies with Project documentation

·Reviews the design output and verifies its compliance with Client’s output specifications and BYUK’s Contract Proposals submission

Key Tasks and Activities
·Appoints or validates the appointment of Consultants

·Understand client requirements/output specs/PA

·Understand and manage consultants appointments

·Manage Consultants accounts

·Values and authorizes appointed consultants payments

·Plan the design tasks in line with procurement and construction strategies

·Agree the scope and content of each design package with designer and production

·Agree and co-ordinate the interfaces between the design packages

·Input into the monthly management meetings (design progress and consultants performance)

·Co-ordinate external approvals:

-Reviewable Design Data

-Building Regulations

-Planning Conditions

·Sign off PTS, SDA’s and Change Controls

·Defines scope and responsibilities of all parties involved in the design system.

·Organises and participates in design reviews

·Prepares this Design Management Plan

·Endorses Consultants’ DMPs (quality management plan)

·Monitors design progress

·Manages the designing subcontractors (for the design only) when delegated by the Project Director/Manager.

·Ensures design output corresponds with design input

·Authorizes the RFC (Released for Construction) and RFP (released For Procurement) status.

·Responsible for the timely close-out of Design Corrective and Preventive actions, Non conformance.

·Prepares the Project’s Document Management Procedure

·Prepare monthly report to Design Leads


·Represents Bouygues UK at the regular co-ordination meetings with the Consultants/ and if required sub-contractors.

·Reviews and collates and ensures designers are in possession of the design input data.

·Comments on drawings and specifications in accordance with the design documents submission procedure.

·Proposes documents for RFC (Released for Construction) and RFP (released For Procurement) status

·Liaise with Site engineers in the development of the design package and procurement programme
