The role holder will work as part of a small team of experienced Oracle operational Database Administrators within the Data Centre, managing Cornwall Council's Oracle development, test and production database estate.
Be responsible for incident triage, analysis, tracking, co-ordination and resolution within Service Level Agreement - this may require out of hours work.
Perform daily checks, monitoring, and regular maintenance to ensure availability of the database estate (approximately 90 databases).
Design and implement changes to the Oracle architecture, configuration, or new installations, driven by projects, or smaller requests for change from the customer - for example, replatforming, storage/data migration, re-architecting hardware.
Liaise with suppliers, customers, Data Centre and DBA team members as required.
Experienced Oracle 11g DBA - equivalent to a minimum of OCP level.
Experience of working in Linux/Unix based Oracle RAC environment
Experience of RMAN.
Experience of working in an operational environment.
Organised, with experience of working on projects, providing estimates for work, and meeting timescales.
Good communication skills - to interact with stakeholders and relay information with regards to issues and progress on activities.
Ability to provide occasional support out of hours and at weekends.
