Further information

To provide consultancy advice on the design of (through RIBA stages 1 to 4) highway and transportation and implementation of transport infrastructure particularly focussing on supporting development planning based issues for the UK Planning Division and company-wide Divisions as necessary.  

The design advice to include: 

  • Access design for new properties / developments include access for cyclists, private cars and medium to large service vehicles (MGV / HGV)
  • Design of loading bays including detailed swept path analysis, provision of suitable waste storage and collection facilities etc.
  • Servicing requirements for all forms of land use, to include numerical analysis of need/demand, and design of servicing areas and access/egress
  • Parking requirements for all forms of land use, to include numerical analysis of need/demand, and design of parking areas (surface, multi-storey, basement, underground and undercroft), cycle storage and access/egress
  • Waste requirements and strategies for all forms of land use, to include numerical analysis of need/demand, and design of waste facilities and user access/egress

A successful candidate would be able to 

  • Demonstrate an understanding of and experience of working to local planning guidance for waste storage provisions
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and experience of working to car parking design best practice and general guidance
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and experience of working to service access and loading bay best practice and general guidance
  • A successful candidate would also demonstrate experience of
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team by attending design workshops / client presentations / meetings with planning authorities
  • Preparing technical notes relating to specific design matters relating to various aspects of a development
  • Managing workload when working to tight deadlines and on multiple schemes

Person Specification:

Essential

  • Excellent understanding of transport infrastructure and planning design standards and guidance and a proven track record of delivery in this area
  • Established skills in current CAD software (AutoCAD, AutoTrack)
  • Comfortable working in creative multi-disciplinary teams with architects etc. and provide positive contributions in resolving complex design problems
  • Professional, resilient, credible and able to lead and influence at all levels of the organisation
  • Good financial awareness
  • Good listening, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Highly self-motivated and results driven
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Good organisation and delegation skills
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines balancing project and organisation / division priorities
  • Good interpersonal skills 
  • Good knowledge of markets and clients

Desired

  • Experience of using Civil 3D or similar
  • Knowledge of BREEAM / Code for Sustainable Homes / Lifetime Homes guidelines
