The Wiltshire Council Landscape and Design Team is committed to protecting our unique and cherished built and natural environment. We are looking for an experienced design professional to join us to ensure that everyone who visits or lives in Wiltshire can continue to enjoy a high quality, sustainable environment. If you would thrive in a busy yet rewarding work place and share our passion for delivering design excellence in Wiltshire’s communities then we would like to hear from you.

We are looking for an experienced urban design professional to join our team, predominately to review and provide expert advice on planning applications, whilst also supporting the development of spatial planning documents and helping to shape the design of major development projects.

The role is predominately office based, with some site visits required to assess application sites and attend meetings. The role requires working with a wide range of stakeholders including planners, other specialists, developers, agents, consultants, statutory bodies, elected members and the public.

You will be solution focussed, comfortable with working independently and managing a busy workload, able to communicate clearly and negotiate confidently. You will have considerable experience of design analysis and negotiation. You should be able to demonstrate an expert level of knowledge with regard to current national planning policy and guidance on design. It would be beneficial to have experience of working with Local Planning Authority development management teams and an understanding of national and local planning policy.
