At BDP, we have an established and successful Urbanism Studio comprising, urban planning, masterplanning, urban design and landscape architecture. Our Urbanism studio work as an integral part of our multidisciplinary offer in the UK and Ireland as well as in its international studios in Abu Dhabi, China, India and the Netherlands. The Urbanism team have also developed a strong profile in their own right, working with public and private sector clients on a challenging range of projects at home and overseas.
As a major international interdisciplinary practice of architects, designers, engineers and urbanists, BDP offers a unique opportunity to work on challenging large-scale projects within interdisciplinary design teams.
The opportunity now exists for an experienced urban designer to join the studio to help grow the urban design group and share in the leadership of the wider Urbanism team. We are looking for a highly creative person with a strong design background and qualified in either urban design / architecture. They should have a minimum of 10 years experience gained across a number of sectors including; residential, mixed use, retail, employment, and leisure. They should be able to lead the preparation of large scale masterplans and strategic regeneration frameworks and also urban design studies working at a more intimate scale on challenging city centre sites. Candidates must be able to lead complex negotiations with clients, stakeholder and community groups, and present work at formal design reviews.
Winning new work is an important part of the role and they should have a successful record gained through tender and competitive interview. They should be client facing with the ability to develop new relationships and streams of work, and have an external profile as a leader or potential leader in their field. Whilst in recent years the Urbanism Studio has secured many exciting international projects, the foundation of our work lies in London and the South East of England and we are keen to build upon recent successes in the domestic market.
