One of the largest local authorities in Europe, Birmingham City Council is seeking Principal Planning Officers to assist in the provision of efficient and effective Planning Management Service. You will be responsible for supporting the City Council's overall strategic themes to provide a better environment for the residents of Birmingham. There are three vacancies available. These contracts are provided on a temporary contract basis until the end of August 2018. You will be paid a salary of between £30.00-£40.00 per hour depending upon experience.
Your new role
You will be responsible for ensuring that Planning Applications are dealt within a professional and timely manner in line with agreed polices and procedures. You will be undertaking site visits and ensuring that appropriate internal and external consultation is undertaken. You will be responsible for the negotiation of S106/CIL Planning obligations and attend Planning Committees.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered for this role, you will hold a degree in Planning or a related discipline. You will also be a member of the RTPI. You must have sound Planning experience and knowledge and experience in computer based Planning Management Systems. You must be experienced in negotiating Section 106 agreements.
What you'll get in return
You will be paid a generous salary of between £30.00-£40.00 per hour. This is a temporary contract role until the end of August 2018.
