We are looking to recruit an Associate Lecturer to teach on the MA Narrative Environments Course, based in the Spatial Practices Department at Central Saint Martins. You will teach 1/2 a day per week, preparing for and delivering structured learning experiences including classes, tutorials, workshops and studio critiques. As part of the course team, you will participate in formative and summative assessment. Associate Lecturers have skills in a range of media and experiences with the design, development, and theory of Narrative Environments.
Teaching will take place between 21 September 2021 and June 25 2022. Any successful applicant could be given additional, future hours within or outside of that date range.
Why choose us?
Central Saint Martins is a world-leading centre for arts and design education. Its reputation stems from the creative energy of its staff and students and the stellar achievements of its graduates nationally and internationally. The nine programmes at CSM explore the boundaries of their discipline. Students and staff are continually alert to new ideas, and are curious and restless in developing beyond the expected norms of their subject, so emerging work is at the forefront of its area. CSM sits at the heart of London’s creative scene, and of one of Europe’s most dynamic new culture and innovation quarters at King’s Cross, making the college increasingly important to London’s cultural life, and indicative of our general desire to open up CSM to as broad an audience as possible.
You will be a highly creative and motivated individual who is active in your specialist field and preferably has experience of delivering high quality learning experiences within Further and/or Higher Education. An effective communicator, confident in your ability to deal with a large and diverse student cohort, you'll be good at working collaboratively in a team, bringing ideas and approaches to teaching and learning to support excellent pedagogy. You will have a special interest in interaction, spatial, and narrative techniques as part of an iterative and experimental design approach.
In return, we offer a competitive employment package including a salary that reflects working in London, an attractive pension scheme, and a commitment to your continuing personal and career development in an environment that encourages creativity, diversity and excellence.
