A major international architectural firm based in Australia needs a bold, energetic leader to be their new Chief Operating Officer. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for someone who's ambition has surpassed geographical lines. As COO, you will be responsible for national support structures; ensuring processes meet the strategic, operational, cultural needs of the organization. This position comes with a generous benefits package, including Base Salary, Retirement, and a bonus of up to 15% of base salary (dependent on the performance).Candidates from companies such as WeWork, Virgin, McKinsey, or any other tech/forward-thinking companies that are at the forefront of the Architecture industry are highly desirable.


Making strategic operational recommendations to the MP, Executive Team and BoM in this regard including for any capital expenditure beyond delegated thresholds
Ensuring the MP, Executive Team & BoM are informed of material developments in the operational performance
Leading, mentoring, developing and advising operational teams in both business-as-usual and projects
Establishing and lead a more efficient/effective operational management structure
Leading and supporting the work of the futures group as part of Research, Knowledge & Innovation
Working with MP in making management appointments in areas of the structure where agreed
Assisting MP & CFO to develop annual forecast, budgets, business plans and ensure availability of adequate financial resources
Working with the Managing Partner & CFO in accounting for the organization's performance
Proactively, regularly and consistently communicate with all committees, directors, senior managers & staff to coordinate activities
Supporting the development of national leadership groups for the development of Interior Design and Planning/Urban Design work
Assisting the MP & CFO to protect the practice to identify operational, corporate and compliance risks
Behaving ethically, responsibly and with integrity to uphold the values of the practice in the spirit of the Directors Code of Conduct
Acting as chair in the meetings and activities of the National Operational Committee as required
Leading a more efficient/effective operational management structure, including simplifying Operational Committee mandates, agendas, key papers, key reports and minutes
Guiding the studio operations in strategizing their business resources in a consistent, mutually beneficial manner


Track-record of strategic thinking, planning and leadership skills with a focus on obtaining results;
Background leading business support functions including Information Systems and knowledge databases
Savvy decision making and negotiating skills
Extensive experience mentoring and leading teams
Superior written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience presenting to Boards.
Exemplary commercial financial management skills
A strong commitment to accountability and compliance
In-depth understanding of the Architectural sector
