Job Description

A creative design studio require an head of architecture and ideas generator. This is a unique, specialist role in a studio that focuses on the human experience within the build environment. They have a global team with headquarters in London and a plethora of international projects covering retail, mixed use and infrastructure. The practice has a holistic, non-hierarchical ethos based on a happy collaborative culture. They retain an entrepreneurial spirit and agility that allows them to respond rapidly to opportunities and shifts in the market, this is embodied in like-minded colleagues.

This role requires an intelligent thought leader, an ideas generator to inspire workshops, convince clients and engage design teams. You will have an autonomous role focused on winning work, building an even bigger presence across the built environment. New sectors could include UK-focused property investors and developers, so architects with these links would add value here.

This role will suit architects and designers who have a strategic approach, a strong understanding of commercial developments and masterplanning, a strong network and compelling ideas and narratives.

You will enrich and enhance a very talented senior team who are self starters and manage their own clients, projects and teams. Candidates who have a passion for making places, understanding people, culture and consumerism and a thirst for insight will be best suited. The work is based on the concept, strategy and thought behind the future of the built environment as it relates to commercialisation and the mapping of user journeys to develop insights, ‘future proofed’ commercial masterplans and public realm.

Desirable profiles are retail place-makers who understand the audience they are designing for. This company’s work isn’t about the buildings but about the commercial connectivity within and between them; the user experience and the essence of the place.

This specialist may be more than an architect - you must be able to develop new business and engage with clients through thought leadership. It is critical to have retail development strategy and master planning experience in one or more of the following project types: Mixed Use Developments, Urban Regeneration, Shopping Centres, Airports and Rail.
