Key Responsibilities / Objectives

  • Compliance and achievement of Group, Division, LCO, project, procedures, personal targets and initiatives.
  • Lead the design process to produce accurate information in line with the agreed specification and cost plan / estimate.
  • Proactively manage the appointment of consultants and ensure that they perform in line with their deed and agreed scope of services.
  • Produce a design programme with the consultants to meet the agreed whole life programme dates.
  • Provide cost effective technical solutions. Design delivered to budget.
  • Chair design team meetings and issue actions to all involved within 2 working days.
  • Produce designs that meet all necessary statutory and regulatory approvals and record on appropriate tracking logs.
  • To conduct their role in a way which is consistent with the company's sustainability objectives.
  • Maximise all value engineering opportunities.
  • Provide technical support to the bid process.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to allotted management trainees or assistants.
  • Manage multiple projects or projects of a complex nature or high value.
  • Engage with the project team and CDM Coordinator to mitigate all health and safety risks.
  • Close out identified project risks. All identified risks satisfactorily concluded.
  • Constantly reinforce and deliver our customer first ethic.

Essential & Desirable Criteria

Technical or Operational

Proven experience of:

• Contracting experience of at least 5 years.

• Various forms of construction technology.

• Using Microsoft suite of Office programmes; inc. Excel, Word, Outlook and Project.

• An understanding of CAD.

• Management of multiple projects or projects of a complex nature or high value.


Proven experience of:

• Controlling costs, timing and quality in line with targets.


Proven Experience of:

• Reading and accurately interpreting drawings and technical specifications.

• Ensuring projects team understanding of drawings and technical specifications.

• Ability to use and navigate design package software.


Proven experience of:

• Management of multi-disciplinary teams.

• Playing an active role which positively contributes to a team.

• Interaction with customers.

• Managing of specialist designers.

Qualifications and Memberships



• Good demonstrable standard of written and spoken English.

• Minimum relevant level 4 qualification (HNC / NVQ4 etc).


• Construction related degree.



• Appropriate CSCS card.

• Valid driving licence.


• Working towards MCIOB / MRICS.
