Through robust contract clienting, this role will ensure that Partners for Improvement (PFI) who deliver a range of service including repairs, maintenance and cyclical works to Islington’s social housing street properties on behalf of the council, are compliant with the contractual obligations of two long term contracts.  Your main objectives will be to determine that services delivered are of the highest quality and value for money.

Pairing project management with quality assurance, you will be responsible for ensuring that all technical works carried out by contractors as part of the PFI contracts are to the required technical standards and this will include monitoring performance, quality checking, project work related to wider property and contract issues, reviewing contractual terms, auditing performance data and driving continuous improvements.

You will also be expected to advise Senior Managers on all technical aspects of the PFI contracts and lead discussions on the technical issues with the contractors. In addition you’ll direct and manage technical resources to deliver retained responsibilities, assess costs related to council retained responsibilities and carry out technical auditing to continually test performance.

About You

Along with a recognised building surveying qualification you will have demonstrable post-qualification experience of property inspection and an awareness of costs of of works. This will be coupled with significant experience of procuring and commissioning technical services within a local authority and a strong understanding of working in partnership with contractors to develop their services. Your ability to understand and interpret complex contracts will be essential to your success.
You will also have extensive knowledge of project management and building design, maintenance, repair and refurbishment in relation to street properties or public sector housing from inception to completion.
